Effective Teaching Strategies
Educators will gain proficiency in evidence-based teaching strategies that to promote academic success for ELs/MLs.
Workshops will also cover strategies for building background knowledge, activating prior knowledge, and creating scaffolding techniques in order to ensure comprehensible input.
Interactive Language Development
Participants will learn and implement interactive strategies that foster meaningful communication and language development.
This includes exploring pair work, small group discussions, cooperative learning activities, and the use of authentic language and real-world contexts.
Vocabulary Building
Educators will acquire effective vocabulary instruction strategies, including explicit instruction, graphic organizers, and the use of visuals and realia.
The workshops will address the specific needs of ELs/MLs by exploring strategies for teaching academic vocabulary, cognates, and idiomatic expressions.
